When you think of the Bahamas, you think crystal clear waters, nice sandy beaches, and
summer weather all year round. This might sound like paradise to you but for myself, and many of the locals, it’s just another day trying to keep our heads above ground. It’s almost like every step you take that will potentially boost you up comes crashing down by the government or by our communities.
I’ve felt it, I’ve experienced it and now I intend to show the world. I’ve put my blood, sweat, and tears into making this short film, to show the world what life is like in The Bahamas and how the locals live day to day. This film is entitled, “They Don’t Know” which follows three friends growing up in the dream crushing violent lifestyle of the Bahamas. Duke, who had dreams of receiving a basketball scholarship that would help him provide a better life for him and his family had to turn to the streets alongside his friends Antone and Marco after some unfortunate news that turned his plans upside down.
As a creator, it is my mission to inspire people to have a positive impact on the world through
cinematography, graphic design, painting, and photography, and how these components can be impactful to the viewers by the story it holds. This is why my senior thesis project, “They Don’t Know”, is so near and dear to me. The biggest thing I want to achieve with every piece I produce is to use my camera to tell a story.
